5 1/2 hour online program delivered in two sessions.  Session 1 and the beginning of session 2 include the course lecture and slide presentation.  The remainder of session 2 contains a virtual lab practicum done in video clips.  The program is available online by demand and can be viewed by registrants 24/7 at any time during the 6 week enrollment period.  In addition to the 2 sessions, an online post test is included that can be taken at any point during the enrollment period following viewing of the 2 sessions.  The program includes instruction in the correct techniques according to established national phlebotomy standards for: obtaining blood samples via venipuncture, skin puncture, correct handling and pre-lab preparation of samples, and prevention of sampling errors including the order of draw, and prevention of complications related to these procedures.  Interactive tools have been created for the program to enhance your learning experience including games, quizzes, videos, downloadable files, and site links.  For additional details, go to the course page on our site at: http://piccresource.com/phlebotomy_class.php
 

This course is a contnuing education program designed for nurses and other health care professionals who are allowed to draw blood for test samples as part of their current profession. The course content well covers common phlebotomy procedural knowledge needed to perform blood sampling within nursing units, clinics, physician offices, and out patient settings outside of the lab setting.  This program is approved to award 5.5 continuing nursing education credits (contact hours) until August 31, 2012.
